“Unseen they suffer, unheard they cry, in agony they linger and in loneliness they die”
Strays are widely seen as a ‘menace‘, as also for those who look after the animals. Cruelty to animals in India is a major concern; Indians do not wish to take any responsibility for, why attacks on stray animals, especially dogs, are now becoming a part of daily life.
Daily, thousands of new born puppies are either killed or culminated in the name of “Stray population Control” instead of proper contraceptive measures being taken by government.
A lot of people think that dogs are just a matter of accessibility; for you can keep them as long as you like them and then leave them whenever you want.
Take other societies from Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai for instance, where people put their fears and differences aside and coexist with stray dogs. We cannot have a monopoly on the land, we have to share it with other life forms and be kind to them. There’s nothing wrong in showing compassion….
Activists like Maneka Gandhi, Anupam kher , Amitabh bacchan have taken a pledge to save as many, but it’s up to us to let off the “Brand conscious mentality and Breed conscious parenting” and actually start adopting our own. It takes nothing away from a human to be kind, and show compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character; and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good human.
If you see a Stray, provide shelter. If you see neglect, condemn it. If you see abuse, stand up and do something. For these dogs cannot coexist with humans until we take a pledge for ADOPTION!!!!
Simply by adopting an indie pup, not only are we helping them to get forever homes but also letting our next generations believe in adoption.
Sometimes the difference between life and death is YOU.
