However, when you look into the intrinsic part of the parallel cinema, you will notice its internal message that touches the mind, touches the heart of the audience. Being inspired by Italian Neorealism, parallel cinema started growing before Japanese New Wave, and the French New Wave, and was the forerunner to the 1960s Indian New Wave. The first movement was inaugurated by the Indian Bengali Cinema and acquired the international acclamation. The contents of the movies are always explained with symbolic elements observed by a keen eye on the socio-economical and socio-political climate of the time. Sometimes, the so-called entertaining song and music are rejected from these movies. These are the typical routines and rules of the parallel cinemas in Indian films as well as other film industries in the world.

If you justify it in terms of popularity, the audience will be divided into two segmentations: one is the regular audience and the other is the classic audience. The regular audience always prefers entertaining commercial movies and the other, the classic audience, prefer the classic parallel cinemas most. However, the fact is that some regular audiences also love to watch movies of the latter kind, and the classic audience also prefers to enjoy commercial movies. The mental stability and feelings change with the maturity of thinking. Therefore, the feelings of the mind of the people determine which sort of movie they will vote for. Still, for watching the movie based on classic thought is somehow centralized to the people of classic mind.
