“Every Child Is Innocent, Save Them from the Fear”
“Save Girl Child” is trending of late, that’s nothing more than a charade. What society really makes of these words? Just to let the baby girl see the world? Saving her in womb, is it enough? Rescued her, gave her a life of sorrow, for she’s saved today, and raped tomorrow!!!
Childhood should be carefree, playing in sun; not living a NIGHTMARE in the darkness of the soul.
In India Rape Is Just the Beginning of the Story. India is thought to have the largest number of sexually abused children in the world. According to Louis-Georges Arsenault, Unicef Representative to India, one in three Indian rape victims is a “Child”. Studies also suggest that more than 7,200 children – including infants – are raped every year, and experts believe many more cases go unreported. If the rape is reported at all, then comes the real challenge. Dealing with the police who are highly untrained and equally insensitive towards such delicate issues. Communities take a 360 degree turn; the verdict is reached almost after years or decades.
And what happens within this interim period?
That’s the gluttony, the sheer shame and fear that bury the child, the abused, and the victim.
Can u digest the fact: that every 155 minute a child under the age of 16 is raped somewhere in India and a child under the age of 13 is raped in every 13 hours! Not only those crimes against women have increased by 7.1% nationwide since 2010, even child rape cases have increased by 336% in last 10 years.
Rape and child abuse happens all over the world, but the gruesome details of the rapes in India are what drove me to write this story.
The majority of child rapes are perpetrated by members of the family, but children are also sexually abused by neighbors and figures of authority. A report by Human Rights Watch says many rape victims are “mistreated a second time by a criminal justice system that often does not want to hear or believe their accounts, or take serious action against perpetrators.”
Isn’t it shameful, that humanity has no apt answer to this?
Or, would these be covered up like others, under the sheath of false testimonies and series of courtroom drama.
The choice is ours. As Arnab Goswami says, “The nation wants to know”.
When will be our children safe out there? When will their minds be free and heads held high? Is it the million dollar question? You decide..
