Undeniably, Hollywood is a dream destination for Indian actors and they strive for the roles in Hollywood movies. Actors like Irrfan Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have managed to bag the leading roles in some of the meatiest projects in Hollywood but some have settled with blink-and-miss and cameos to lengthen their career in cinema. In the race of obtaining the global image, actors from Bollywood run behind the Silver screen of Hollywood but very few have succeeded.
That’s one side of a coin as there are multiple examples of the Indian actors who turned down ambitious Hollywood projects. You may not believe me, but I am jotting down the name of top Bollywood actors who rejected delicious roles in Hollywood movies which can take place in any of the best movies blog.
Shah Rukh Khan – Slumdog Millionaire
Danny Boyle’s Indian saga Slumdog Millionaire was initially offered to Shah Rukh Khan but rejected by him. The chance of an international debut was refused by the King of Romance since he thought that the role was not appropriate for him. According to the report, SRK was offered the role that opened the gate of Hollywood for Anil Kapoor, another Indian actor.
Deepika Padukone – Furious 7
Hollywood actors are believed to be more professional than the Indian counterparts but ace Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone proved the whole conception wrong with her professionalism. Allegedly, she was offered one of the most successful movie series these days – Fast and Furious 7! But as she was busy in shooting for Farah Khan’s Happy New Year, she refused the offer and the kind of professionalism and loyalty she showed towards the mentor is commendable and worth mentioning in the best movies blog!
Akshay Kumar – Untitled Movie with Dwayne Johnson
The Khiladi Kumar of Bollywood was a martial artist before and the A-listed action star in India performs the stunts himself which can be compared in the same league with the toughest action stars in Hollywood like Jackie Chan, Jean Claude Van Damme and Jason Statham! So, it’s no wonder when a popular Asian face was required to cast with Dwayne Johnson, he was a natural choice. But Akshay turned down the opportunity as he preferred to entertain Indian audience.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – Troy
Debatably, the most familiar face in Hollywood, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was offered a role opposite none other than the biggest heartthrob of Hollywood Brad Pitt on Troy. But the Indian beauty has turned down the role because the role demanded intimate scenes with Brad and that didn’t go well with Aish.
Priyanka Chopra – Immortals
Piggy Chops is the latest Indian toast in the West after the brilliant take off of her singing and TV career and with the latest glamorous villainous character in Baywatch opposite Dwayne The Rock Johnson, she’s on the 9th cloud! But way earlier in her career, the glam girl was offered an important role in Immortals which she could not pursue because of her prior commitments in ‘7 Khoon Maaf’. Priyanka’s loss became Frieda Pinto’s gain by strengthening her foot on the Hollywood.
Irrfan Khan – Interstellar
It takes real guts and nerve of steel to refuse a Christopher Nolan film! And the ace actor from India and a revered name in both the industry – Irrfan Khan had to let go the film since he had to stay 4 months for the film’s camp whereas he wanted to shuttle India for filming ‘The Lunchbox’ and ‘D-Day’. Since Christopher did not permit him to move base for 4 months, we missed witnessing another amazing performance by the actor in the movie done by Matt Damon eventually.
Hrithik Roshan – The Pink Panther 2
The Greek God of Bollywood Hrithik Roshan has not done a single movie till the date in Hollywood in spite of his global attire, killer physique and jaw-dropping dance moves! No wonder when he was offered the role of ‘Vicente’ in the second instalment of the popular Pink Panther franchise, he did not take too long to reject it. Indians are still anticipating the time when they’ll see their favourite star to collaborate with the Hollywood giants.
Dilip Kumar – Lawrence of Arabia
You can have an idea about the Hollywood obsession with the Indian actors with the thespian actor Dilip Kumar. The ace actor was offered the lead role in an international project called Lawrence of Arabia in the year of 1962 directed by David Lean. The reason for his refusal for the film is still unknown and that’s why he is enlisted in the best movies blog with all this mysterious knockback. Eventually, the role was played by Egyptian actor Omar Sharif.
Films and its devotion are never going to end in the audience’s heart. People enter into the hall with a desire to be the hero of the film. They try to find their own story in the film and when the hero beats the bad guys, and goodness wins over the bad, all are the winner in the hall. While Bollywood has risen up these days and actors are going overseas to participate in the Hollywood films. Indian audiences are keen to see their stars starring opposite famous global figures.
